No sense in wasting a perfectly good thread... ;-)

So... what new features were you hoping to see in Vegas Pro 14.0?

* Fix bugs. Vegas has crashed too much in the latest versions.
* Fix GPU-acceleration. I can't even edit 1080p smoothly with a 3.3 GHz Xeon and GPU with 1,664 CUDA Cores
* Optimize for HiDPI. It's better than Photoshop, but the GUI could be tweaked to look nicer on UHD.

That's about it. My wishlist is sadly just for it to work correctly. It already has a million features, but the core software isn't sturdy, so piling more features on that isn't nice.

Or forget about Vegas and add audio-related features to Catalyst Edit.

* Fix new and pre-historic bugs (my script icons still disappears)
*Go back in time and never add GPU acceleration (they never going to fully-fix it, and when they fix it, the user updates to a new GPU drivers, and new problems show up again. will have eternal problems)

GPS acceleration works GREAT, my VP13 renders and previews would be 10 times slower in some circumstances if it wasn't there..
So I would take away the time machine from anyone trying to go back and remove that function from Vegas.

Also, I haven't had a crash in many months with VP13. But that's hardware specific.

Ram preview seems to be the only thing that crashes VP on my system. So I disable it when editing important stuff. Or set it to low value.

+1

I'm guessing that this is exactly what will happen. Catalyst Edit already has some nice multi-channel audio support and nested timelines. No one has mentioned a new feature for Vegas 14 yet, and everyone seems to want GPU acceleration and other old bugs to work right which I'm sure is what Catalyst Edit is actually doing right so... it sounds like what people want so far is for Catalyst Edit to catch up to Vegas Pro (which it is quickly doing).

If they are really going to 'replace' Vegas Pro with Catalyst, then perhaps SCS should offer to replace Vegas Pro, for their loyal users over the years, with a free copy? :-(

Well... you certainly wouldn't have gotten a free copy of Vegas Pro 14.0 just for being a "loyal" user so I would think it more likely that if Sony did feel that Catalyst Edit was at a point where it could replace Vegas Pro that at least they would offer a nice side-grade offer much like their upgrade offer for Vegas Pro users.

Catalyst Suite download right now at BH for $208. Haven't seen that kind of deal from Sony. I picked up Prepare and am using it with Vegas. I can see that taking me another year down the road. We'll see where Edit is at that time. They're making progress but still not there for day in/out editing, imho.

When Catalyst Edit gets closer to feature parity with Vegas Pro and they EOL Vegas Pro, I definitely think they should offer cross grade pricing that is the same as traditional upgrading pricing for Vegas Pro.

In fact if they did it now regardless of whether Vegas is End of Life yet. They'd probably get more money with some making the upgrade for learning purposes, then upgrading both until switching exclusively to Catalyst Edit once it has the proper features. At this point in time they could call it the early adopter incentive for Catalyst Edit.

I still believe the funeral plans for Vegas are happening too soon. Catalyst is not the replacement. Maybe a new product with a new name. Maybe a new model of upgrades for the current Vegas. Keep in mind that in the past, beta testing is almost always ongoing for new versions. I find it quite interesting to see how many of the major contributors to this forum were either silent or quite reserved with their comments in that famous 350 post thread. Maybe some have information that can't be shared.

The bugs fixed that have never been addressed in 13 despite verification and much asking ?

Recording would be a start. And a business-like GUI rather than 'toy'.

What I would like to see in 14:
1. Make a way to save often used video & audio FX using a keyboard command.
2. Have video clips show a colored bar on the top or bottom to indicate a special effect has been used on it. The green bowtie is not adequate for say, a media FX effect like Stabilization.
3. Ability to copy & past individual FX. If I have stabilized a bunch of clips and now want to copy a color effect to them all, I have to re-stabilize all the clips if I hit "Paste Event Attribute" on them. This also wipes out any other effect on that clip. A few other editors let you copy and paste ONLY the effect that you copied by selection. Now I could improve my workflow by doing the stabilizing last but it hinders the way I edit video
4. Have a two-monitor workflow set-up like the one pictured. All tracks on the left screen, all else to the right. It's much easier to edit multi-track.
