Subject:Arm before record to monitor volume before record

I have used SF 6.0 through SF 11 on PCs and just installed the SF Mac 2.5 on a new MacBook Pro. On my PCs I am able to arm and monitor the volume before hitting the record button. But I cannot figure out how to do that on my MacBook. When I touch the record button the recording just takes off running. What am I doing wrong? I know it must be a dumb simple thing... but after 15 years of using Sound Forge... I cannot figure it out yet. Thanks in advance for your help.

I had the same problem. Thanks to Gus Audio below for explaining.

Yes, it appears that there is no way to monitor record levels without first recording a dummy file, stopping the record and then using the Arm & Record icons in the bottom left to start a new recording or erasing the contents of the original.
Input levels can only be monitored in the Record tab of the Pane after arming.
Wonder if any of the people who programmed this have ever done any audio work??

Hey guys,

I've been using SF since 6.0 as well so I know were your coming from. The way you monitor the levels before you record is as follows.

Under the view tab on the toolbar, Make sure you have the record view checked.

In that window, make sure the monitor inputs box is checked.

Open a new file from the tool bar.

You'll see a new window open with two red record tabs on the left hand side.

Press the left red record box to monitor the levels.

Press the right red record box to record audio.

Hope this helps.

Cheers!
