Audio glitches while editing from usb drive

relaxvideo wrote on 10/26/2015, 10:44 AM
When my footage is on external usb3 2TB WD drive, audio is bad.
Glitches in every seconds. HDD is in 100% condition and the transfer rate is more than 100MB/sec with total commander.
What can be wrong? Reinstall chipset driver?
thx

UBS 3 overhead or other internal things going on. I believe many have reported the same issue, especially with audio edits.

Is the USB3 port on your computer a native USB3? If not, that could be the issue.

Right - and then just plug the new HDD into a USB 2 connector on your PC.

Here plugging anything into a "blue" USB3 connector mostly gives "unexpected" results - while the "black" USB2's are a bit slower - but they do work.

Yes, its a native usb3 port on the Asus p8h67-m mainboard.
Now i connected to the usb2 port, and it works good so far..

I doubt that the H67 chipset includes native USB 3.0. I believe it starter with H81 or even later like Z77.

Here is a link you could read about the differences; all I could find on short notice.

It could very well be. The USB 3.0 port or ports will share PCIe lanes with other components which can cause short delays in the data stream if the resources are required elsewhere. Do you have other add in cards aside from a graphic card?
