Subject:tones generated on 9.0 effects and EQ

A couple of years ago I started getting these odd complex tones generated at an interval of a few seconds when I used the reverb on 7.0. It didn't matter that much because I use the EQ and effects on 9.0 most of the time (even though there are some aspects of 7.0 that I still like). Now, the same thing has started on 9.0.
I've reinstalled from disc, made the updates... still the same.
These odd tones will appear every few seconds (an print to the audio), sometimes going up in pitch when next appearing, sometimes down. They last a second or so and only appear when using EQ or any effects...Record and Playback are fine.
Could there be some incompatibility with another program...as far as I know, nothing has been added or changed?
I'm currently just using a LEXICON Lambda interface to 2-track editing... again audio other than EQ or effects is fine....AAAH!
Thanks to anyone, who has a suggestion.

Most likely it's because you haven't activated the license yet. You're still running in Demo mode. Once you activate and get out of Demo those tones go away.

Nope...everything has been activated...on 7.0 years ago! Thanks anyway.

Maybe a re-install and re-activation ?

This happened on my system, too. I eventually traced it to a recent installation of a USB 3.0 card reader driver by GeneSys Logic. My card reader had been working fine, but suddenly Windows wanted to install this driver. Check to see if you have the program UMonit64.exe (a "ChangeIcon" application) running in the background. If so, disable it, and the tones should stop. Then go to the Device Manager, find the GeneSys item under USB controllers, and uninstall it.
