When I import the video files (AVCHD) Vegas crashes, on my new computer, sometimes after a few files have been imported, sometimes when adding more files. This was not a problen on my old win 8.1 computer. What to do?

System:

Intel I5 4690 CPU 3.5 Ghz
12 Gb ram

Only Vegas Pro 13 is certified for W10. see first 'sticky'. however many users find that VP12, VP11,VP10 etc work with W10, so it is a matter of luck. As far as SCS are concerned you are on your own.

Solutions.
1):Install a trial of VP13 & test thoroughly. if OK upgrade or wait for VP14.
2): Roll back to W8.1. You did make a backup of your system disk before upgrading?

Did you happen to make sure your audio & video drivers were up to the latest versions after installing Win10?

Make sure all updates are installed under Start>Settings>Update& Security. Reboot if any are installed.

Have you tried re-installing VP13-build453?

I had some issues with Vegas 10 reading files on my 8.1 system, so I installed the 13 demo and they had no issues. So I copied the relevant codec stuff from the Vegas 13 folder to the Vegas 10 one and Vegas 10 had no more issues.

Go figure. :p

Older versions of Vegas shared the codec IO files. So if you have Vegas 4 & Vegas 5 supported an updated codec, you could just install the demo & it would update the codec files.

At whatever time they separated the codec files in to the specific Vegas folders (vegas/fileio plugins/) the upgrade method didn't work any more. So when I had a problem reading a file in 10 & loaded the 13 demo to see if it would work. It did so I copied the relevant codec from "vegas pro 13.0/fileio plugins" to "vegas pro 10.0/fileio plugins" and the file could now be read.

I did backup the stuff I was overwriting first and I did check to see if the file could work in V13 before I even attempted.
