Acid 7 - Can't get CD to burn -ACID Product Family

I am definitely not an expert and mainly use this software to chop/mix/change speed of existing music, so excuse my ignorance. I've had Acid 7 for some time and recently changed computers, installing it on Windows 7. When I go to burn the disc, it says that it unreadable...and they are brand new CD-R's (so they are). Sony doesn't support it anymore so they would not help me in the chat except to direct me to the forum. She also had me check administrative credentials which seemed fine. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong or what I need to do to resolve the problem?
