Subject:Sound card preference?

Just a FYI - I've posted this same question in the Sound Forge forum.

I'm looking for recommendations on sound cards. I have a new PC with a factory installed SB Live!. But I'd like to get a better sound card ASAP. The bottom line is I do NOT trust Creative products.....I've had far too many problems with their hardware and software (I'm already having trouble with this card - factory installed no less). I admit, I do like the features of the SB Live! and would like a comparable product in all respects except one: I don't need much, if any, gaming support. I'm not too stingy on toys, but would like to stay under $400. Any opinions?

i have found the AudioPhile 2496 from M-aduio everyone seems to like it. i'm gonna get it soon. its only $170 theres also the echo mia, but i havent herd much about it. u can check out the aduiophile at www.m-audio.com

i have 2496 , price is great, guitar center has it for $149.
i have a little bit of noise that i'm trying to track down where it's coming from (maybe my mixer???), but compared to my SBLive that i used to use, this thing is quite like a ninja.

The delta 44/66 cards are pretty much the same but with a cool brake out box.
