Subject:Acid Pro with Scarlett Focusrite 2i4

Hi all,

I just picked up a Scarlett Focusrite 2i4 to record audio for Acid Music Studio 9.

When I try to record I'm getting lots of noise in the recording. It sounds fine though the monitor though.

Any ideas how to troubleshoot this?

Hey Sproket

Not the best news to relay to you. But I have a focusrite 2i2 and have tried using it in Acid Pro as well. Unfortunately Acid Pro hasn't been updated since February 2010. These boxes are 2012/2013 boxes so probably the ASIO drivers are not working with Acid Pro. I tried setting it to other settings (in the audio preferences panel in acid pro) and couldn't get the latency to match up.
Unfortunately on my end - I gave up. The boxes work wonderfully with other DAW setups.
(it's that brutal static noise in the background - sounds fine as you record but when you play back it's all static - I know what you're talking about)

That sucks. Time to learn a new software I think.

You could try logging the problem as a fault to Tech Support...

I just purchased a Scarlett 2i4 before I saw this post. Playback is fine, but can't record. I run Vegas Pro. Do I have the same issue with Acid Pro regarding Focusrite? Guess I'm stuck.

Hi, I ran into the same issue, just got my 2i4 a few days ago, when recording any instrument it sounds ok but when I play the recorded session I'm getting a crackling/distorted sound on the entire recording. I did several tests with the settings till I was able to get a decent result. Just go the your audio device preferences, then locate the "Advance" option on the lower right of the tab, you get another tab for "Advance Audio Configuration", again locate the "Configure" button on the upper right corner, set the buffer length to "5 ms" & it should fix the problem.

My 2i4 runs just fine recordig on VegasPro 13(64) and ASIO drivers. Playback fine too - unless ASIO driver and a VST plugin on Master, but that's a separate issue and is the same on a variety of interfae.

Will try it on Acid presently and report back.

Scarlett 2i4 fine on my Win7(64) laptop AcidPro 7e , with Focusrite USB 2.0 Audio Driver (ASIO), or standard Win driver on MS Mapper or explicitly selected.

Recording quality for me using the 2i4 and Acid 7e has been disappointing. Numerous iterations of fixes with focusrite yielded no positive results. Volume on one monitor louder than the other, scratchy noises, causes acid to crash when navigating back and forth between internet browser vids and acid. Went back to using a FireWire interface by presonius. Which unfortunately meant I had to go back to windows 7 but that's another story.

I have a Scarlett 6i6 and it will only record at 24 bit, 16 bit gives me noise. I am using Acid Music Studio 9. I tried version 8, same problem. Someone warned me about this problem and sure enough, it exists. But the Scarlett is quite a nice AI and so I kept it.

Can't imagine why anybody would want to record at anything other than 24 bits this decade ! But it should at least work !

("this decade" because computers are fast and huge HDDs cost next to nothing)
