Hello,

Please provide the following:

1) Video capture card in use during the capture.

2) Is the source media PAL or NTSC?

3) If you go into your device manager (windows key+pause/Hardware/Device Manager) after having your camera on, then look under Imaging Devices, do you see your camera name listed there? And when you check the properties on that description (double click it) does it say that the driver is provided by Microsoft? It should. If it says anything else, then you aren't using the standard Microsoft driver and you should disable the driver found there, then reboot the PC and let Windows assign the standard Microsoft DV driver.

thanks for your reply...i am using a hitachi vm-d865la camera (using NTSC is what i've been doing i guess)
i am also using a High-speed IEEE1394 interface firewire card...
i checked the drivers like you asked and it said "provided by microsoft"

just for your interest..i downloaded adobe premier 6 to see if the demo worked and i can capture fine with that but i would much rather use my VV to do it if possible...
thanks again

When you are in the device manager do you see OHCI compliant IEEE1394 host controller listed there?

Are you capturing video to the same hard drive that you have the operating system on or is it on an independent drive? If you can, be sure to capture to an independent drive. This can be managed from the video capture 3.0/Options/Preferences/Disk Management tab.

If this doesn't sort itself out, why don't you give us a ring on the Tech Support number. We'll dig into this with you over the phone. YOu are entitled to 60 days of complementary support after the date you register your license of Vegas. The support number if you still qualify for that complementary support is 608.204.7704 from 9am to 5pm CST, M-F.
