Subject:Sound Forge won't register (v10 or 11!)

Hello- I have 3 copies of Sound Forge and am trying to install one of them on a Mac Cylinder 2013 running boot camp, Windows 8.1) For a little while SF 10 worked, but eventually fell into the exact same pattern as SF11. When I install SF and then run it, the program requests activation and a serial number. I put in the serial number and my information, and then it says "registering, processing cookie, activation complete" (paraphrasing). When I click on SF 10 or 11 then, it asks for registration again, then goes to the Windows "Requires Upgraded Privileges". when I click YES there, the screen goes away and nothing happens. Does anyone have any experience similar to this?! EDIT: I have tried completely uninstalling Sound Forge, Noise Reduction, restarting, then reinstalling, and get the same result. Tried 2x with both versions of the software. Sony Vegas running absolutely fine. Message last edited on7/14/2015 2:50:08 PM bychap. |

After uninstalling, did you clean the (Window's) registry to remove old associated entries? Piriform's CC Cleaner has a reg cleaner that seems to work ok. It may be after the fact, but many folks use a third-party uninstaller when removing software. I really like the (free) Revo Uninstaller, in the advanced mode does a very thorough job of removing leftover entries. It's amazing (and amusing) how much garbage the Windows system uninstaller leaves behind. - It may be best to uninstall / reinstall all the SCS apps, as there are shared entries. This is silly, but we have been in the habit of running our audio workstations free of network connections, so when I went to install and register a purchased copy of SF 11, it would act as if it was working, then it would go back to saying "Your trial period has expired - please enter your activation code" or something like that. I tried cleaning up the registry and uninstalling/reinstalling multiple times. The problem was that it needed an internet connection at the point I submitted the activation code. The software never says, "you must be connected to the internet" so after around 15 tries, I tried plugging the ethernet cable in and voila. This is not a bug but definitely an omission that should be rectified. |

What happened to customer service? Instead of offering complex uninstall - reinstall - registry editing half-baked "solutions," how about offering some sort of patch to fix the problem? Lord knows the product is now expensive enough to warrant something better than this. You know it's broken, for plenty of users - so it's surely your job to fix it properly. |

@Phil Sayer- Are you addressing me? This is a user forum. Why would I be able to do anything about this? I was just sharing a link to an article which seems to address the OP's issue. Sorry for trying to be helpful. Message last edited on10/26/2015 10:06:00 AM bysilvertone1938. |

No - and I apologise unreservedly if it seemed I was! I'm aware that Sony personnel do check the forums - the comment was directed at them... I may well have hit the Reply on your post inadvertently. Sorry about that. |
