I've always been mulling over the DSLR video route, being able to use great glass and get shallow DOF (on occasion). I'd then be able to have a 1 camera setup for stills and video - keep seeming to shy away due to the lack of continuous video autofocus. A jack of all trades with compromises. I have thus kept my trusty Canon 1Ds2 and Panasonic SD900. Pleased with the results from both.
But, I've just seen Sony's new mirrorless offering announced. The A7rii - 42mp, full frame sensor, 4k. Their previous A7's were grouped into 2 camps, the A7ii and the A7r which are more stills orientated and the A7s which is more video orientated. The newly announced A7rii appears to be on first glance a do all camera that bridges the stills/video gap of the previous incarnations.
It isn't shipping till August, so real life reviews are very thin on the ground and tend to have the "amazing" slant on them rather than objective reviewing of users.
I'm gonna be waiting with anticipation and may consider ditching my whole canon setup and video cam for one of these. Seems to trounce all over the highly respected GH4
