If number of posts on these forums is anything to go by, Then Acid is number 3, ahead of Sound Forge , with only Vegas Pro and Movie Studio getting more !

Worth an update or two maybe, or a version ...?

Not to disagree, but keep in mind that the majority of forum posts are people having problems and therefore not necessarily representative of the number of users at all. It's quite possible that Sound Forge has way more users than all the other applications combined, but very few people have any problems at all. On the other hand, it could be that ACID has only 100 users who all have problems.

Not likely, i know, but it shows that number forum posts alone doesn't really tell much.

Excellent program. Reliable as hell. Never let us down all these years even through all those Windows OS versions. Solid like a rock. The nice part is they're continuing to develop the AMS version and bringing in the same features from the Pro app and even came out with some new goodies that are valuable to us in the studio. We could probably switch over now to AMS without missing a beat but we're lazy. The key for us was the 24 bit recording introduced in AMS. We don't do midi and the Roland Studio Capture I/O interface handles the talkback mics without the need for input buses. It's nice to know we can roll over to AMS anytime we feel like it. 64 bit DAW? Never experienced any problems using 32 bit Acid and a ton of 32 bit iZotope plugin effects on up to 12 tracks and sometimes even recording all 12 at once. I read some posts here about guys experiencing problems with Acid because the program got unstable after using over a hundred tracks in a song and needed a 64 bit program. 100 tracks? For us, it's a nightmare trying to mix more than six lead instruments and make each one heard. Anyway, knowing we can do a sideways upgrade to AMS makes Acid a sweet choice for our music. Rock on!
