Subject:WARNING: SOUND FORGE CAN'T SURVIVE VST PLUGIN SCAN

It's clear that "sfvstserver.exe *32" needs a revision. It's incapable of handling many plugins and often just freezes without any additional information or notification. I typically have to restart the vst scan a dozen times for more before it'll complete a scan of all my VST plugins normally. Sometimes I get to read: "Sony VST Server has stopped working." but most of the time it just freezes on something without additional notice. This is with SF11. With SF10 the problem is much worse. In some cases the problem re-iterates and it's impossible to move forward without removing dll's from the VST folder, dll's that NONE of my other hosts have any problems with. Fun, fun, fun! I so enjoy doing this; it's a real treat... ;( What is wrong with you guys? You used to be so responsive... |

You're really on a rampage against Sony, aren't you, Angels? Have you considered that maybe, since few other people are experiencing these issues, the problem might be your system? Most of us are having none of the problems you're railing about. |

I see, so the problem is me then? I've been using Sound Forge since version 4 and Vegas since version 1, and have been working professionally with music and computers since 1983. Give me at least credit that I know what I'm doing. If "most of you" aren't having these problems, then perhaps it has something to do with limitations that you have not yet reached. My system works fine and all of my other hosts and editors behave as they should. There are inevitably occasional hiccups but they're typically handled quickly by responsive developers. This VST scanning issue with SF and Vegas has been a problem for ages now, with no fix in sight.. I am disappointed that this place has become a complaint bucked instead of a dialog with the developers like it used to be. And I'm even more disappointed that I've become a member of the complainers. Life is too short for this ****. |

Could be. Or maybe you just got the bad copy. But in any event, I'm glad you found the opportunity to vent. Just remember that this is a user to user forum. It's not a way to contact. So all you're doing is flaming at people who have nothing to do with the program. Life is indeed short. Why waste it posting here? |

So, as most of us are indeed not getting this problem, what is the limitation that you have reached ? 100 plugins, 1000 plugins ? So let's try and track the 'limitation' down. Or whatever (else) the problem may be. A little more info may help. geoff |

Quit blowing smoke, Angels. The working (and retired) pros here don't buy it. The problem isn't Sony, it isn't you, it IS your plugins. But you know that because I pointed it out last week. Among "ALL" your VST plugins, you've got a couple of mavericks. But its up to you to weed them out, not your peer users. Once they've been isolated, you could actually be part of the solution by submitting tickets to both Sony and the Plugin providers. Far more likely to get some action than using a flamethrower. I solved this problem a long time ago by keeping my 32 and 64 bit VSTs in a separate folder and make sure Soundforge and Acid only see the 32 bit folder. |
