Is there a way to add video effects as I capture?

I've been using a Logitech Webcam. It came with some video fx. I used some of them quite a bit. When I switched to Win 8.1 the Logitech software wouldn't install and said I must get the updated version. I spent some hours trying to figure out why I couldn't get the fx option to appear. Then I stumbled upon a forum saying Logitech took the fx part out of the update.I guess they didn't want to pay someone some money but I thought it was a low move. I then started searching for another way to put fx on. One program "Virtual Webcam Effects" immediately set off virus alarms.
Could anyone tell me about any fx I could add either as or after I capture. The one I was using kind of colored everything in a different way...semi neon. Any tips much appreciated.

You can certainly use Movie Studio to add effects to your video, after it's been saved to your computer.

Thats good to know and I learned about a number of effects as I looked into it. But the thing I've been doing for years on an old version of Cyberlink Power Director 8 and the Webcam (that Logitech stripped the effects out of for the updated windows 8 software) is adding the effects as I capture. It makes it much more fun and one can make adjustments that very much affect the action. In my case the music. So I still hope to find a way to have a decent selection of effects to have on as I capture video.

CyberLink PowerDirector can do that, and it's probably your best choice. Why not stick with it for doing that sort of live effects capture?

Even though the new pc is much faster, in some ways, it's actually been quite a drag switching from my xp to win8.1 on the laptop. The version of Cyberlink PD8 I have installed but all access to any webcams or camcorders remains greyed out. It only opens up audio as a capture possibility. Even if I get the capture to recognize webcams etc the Logitech software wouldn't install on 8.1 and the updated version has cut out all access to effects. As I said before capturing the occasional practice with webcam was the only thing I did with that Cyberlink program. One thing I noticed on the new laptop is when I plugged in the Logitech webcam it only opened up the Logitech webcam software even though the built in laptop webcam has its own Lifeframe software (it doesn't have the effect I used in Logitech). Inexperienced with effects on webcams in general so if someone does this in another way I'll be happy to hear about it. Thanks

Generally i always advise against adding any effects while recording. It's impossible to remove them if you decide you don't want that effect or want something different later on. It's almost always better to record "straight", then do the modifications afterward.

Thanks for the comment. I take your point but I'd like to have the option.Especially since I've already been doing it for some years (until these "updates".) Actually seeing the effect onscreen as you play sometimes adds a whole level of inspiration. With some luck, if I get the mix of audio levels right it can be an interesting thing to look at by itself. In my case it's the balance of audio levels that usually needs adjusting afterwords.
