I'm evaluating a demo version of Sound Forge 5.0 and I've noticed that using the Vinyl Restoration DirectX pluggin causes the volume to increase about .5 Db and causes the peak parts of the wav file to clip. Is this normal or do I have something set wrong? |

This is not normal. There is usually an output level control. Which may be missing on the Demo version. |

Definitely shouldn't happen. However, it may simply be a settings issue with Vinyl Restoration. You might make sure that other plug-ins aren't doing the same thing. Try using the "General Restoration" preset. |

The "Click and Crackle Remover" and the "Noise Reduction" each raised the loudness slightly but the worst one is the "Vinyl Restoration". Using the "General Restoration" preset on a .5 second section of the recording, the "Max Sample" reading on the statistics went from L-3.14 Db & R-3.10 Db to L-1.46 Db & R-1.18 Db. The wav file is 16 bit and the "Vinyl Restoration" plugin is processing at 24 bit. Would this make a difference and if so, how do you change the plugin bit rate processing? |

Shouldn't make a difference (that was how I tested it). Are you processing something off of a record, or another kind of audio? I could always try out a sample of the file if you can post it somewhere. |
