Good day all. I have 16 songs with minor variations in the backing tracks for voice demo CD. Everything is pretty much equalized and limited to my liking but there are some slight variations in the volume among some of the songs when burned to a disc. Is there any batch process application that would set a uniform level for all 16 songs? Thank you! WSS |

You could load 'em up into CD Architect to easily flip bewteen songs and tweak the levels of each. If you want to get fancy, put a limiting or compression plugin on each individual trach and tweak them there. But only DX so you'd need an old version of the plugins, or a VST-wrapper. geoff |

okay so I've checked all 16 songs in tools statistics. They run from a range of 8.88 up to 10. 49 in the overall loudness. RMS lo is 11. 3 and the high is 13. would it be a good idea to go with an average of say 12 RMS boosting the lower ones by the appropriate number of decibels and reducing the volume on the higher ones? which of these two numbers will be the most useful? All 16 have been processed and the mastering tool kit exciter, jazz hi fi, at a point where there is no clip into the red and then through the hard limiter. is changing volume by a decibel or so the appropriate way to adjust? thank you and sorry for being a pain in the... Conforming RMS norm to -12 is just fine. Individual tweaking would still be desirable. Using a Toneboosters Loudness metering plugin is a more refined way to do this |

Thanks gentlemen. Would I do better to match the loudness or the RMS? Also the tone booster plug is a third party plug sold individually? Edit also can those levels be adjusted within the tone booster plugin? thank you! WSS Message last edited on5/3/2015 11:55:59 AM byWestside Steve. |

A few things. First, you could have easily batch processed your individual files in SF to whatever RMS you like. I do this all the time with VO's. But it seems you've already done this manually. Second, you could use the free Tone Boosters plug-in. However, since you already have Vegas Pro 13 (you've posted on the Vegas Pro forum), which has built-in loudness meters. I'd simply drag your files onto an audio track and then do a batch render to a wav format, making sure that you have the Box ticked "Save loudness log file next to media file" Then open the log file for each song and scroll to the end for your overall loudness levels. This would be very quick, whereas the Toneboosters Plug-in requires that you "play" the entire file and manually write down the values. wwaag |
