Subject:Noise Reduction 2 Upgrade Installation Procedure

I have Noise Reduction 1 installed with Sound Forge 5.0. I just downloaded Noise Reduction 2, and would like to upgrade my computer but I cannot find any upgrade installation instructions anywhere. Do I have to uninstall NR 1 first or do I just run the NR 2 .exe file ? Does anyone know what the correct procedure is ? I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.

Hi.

Read this post carefully before you follow anything in it!

I clicked on the downloaded file and it installed. HOWEVER - When I went to use SF and the Noise Reduction plugin I was asked for my serial number. This was not un-expected. I thought it meant the serial number I received when I bought Sound Forge-this was wrong. I next thought it meant the serial number I had for my original Noise reduction plug in-this was wrong. I had to go to Windows Control panel and uninstall Noise Reduction 2.0 and then I had to reinstall the original Noise reduction plug in. I haven't a clue as to what went wrong. I think the verbage as to what serial number is wanted should be more specific. I am drowning in Sound Forge serial numbers between SF 4.5 and SF 5!

To go from Noise Reduction 1.0 to Noise Reduction 2.0 requires the purchase of an upgrade.

I DID purchase the upgrade - that's how I got the Noise Reduction 2.0. Still there are no instructions on installing it. I don't want to mess anything up, that's why I am asking for the correct sequence of installing. Please let me know what that should be or where I can find that info. Thank you.

Hi. No I did not. I did receive 2 email responses from SF after I emailed them but the "answers" I received weren't clear to me. Perhaps my email questions weren't clear to them. No info at all as to what serial number was wanted. Digesting their responses makes me wonder if my so called old version is version 2 as I was told version 1 wouldn't work in SF 5. I don't know how to determine the version number of my noise reduction plugin. The specific answer to your question though is "No."

Would be nice if someone from Sonic Foundry could address this issue and help us resolve this problem, rather than just making sure they get paid.
