Hello, On Friday I installed a M-Audio Audiophile 2496 sound card (upgraded from SBLive!). Recording/Playing wav files works just fine with Easy CD Creator 5 and Windows Media Player but not with Sound Forge 5.0f. I've fiddled with the wav buffer settings and flipped playback settings between Microsoft wave mapper and the new sound card... doesn't make a difference. Imagine trying to sing while someone is drumming on your back; that's what it sounds like when Sound Forge is playing a wave file. Have anyone encountered this problem before? TIA -Mark PS: PS: problem sounds even worse when recording/playing in 24-bit mode. here are the system specs: Celeron2-900 mHz clone 768 Mb RAM 2x WDC 40 GB hd ATA 100 operating in RAID-0 Audiophile 2496 Sound Card S3 Verge DX375 video Firewire Card SCSI ISA card Supra 56k modem Linksys NIC Window 98 SE |

Well, after tearing my computer apart and sending emails to Sonic Foundry support (they responded) and midiman support (they didn't respond... yet), I've solved my own problem. On Saturday, I gave my old Voodoo3 video card to my kids and ordered a new Radeon 7500 for my PC. In the interim, I installed my kids' junky old S3 Verge card into my PC just so I could use it. It seems that was wreaking havoc with Sound Forge. A quick swap back to my Voodoo3 solved the problem. I guess it has something to do with following the playback cursor. Anyway, problem solved, in case this thread catches anyone's eye. Mark |

It maybe sounds like your video was hogging the system's PCI bus. Could've simply been the S3 drivers too. The Audiophile is a great card. You'll love it. Iacobus |
