Batch Converter to support Vegas Video *.veg files?

Hi,

It would be nice if the batch converter supported vegas video (*.veg) files somehow, or if it were possible to render multiple files (automatically) from Vegas Video.

What I wanted to do was this:

I have a recording of a conference, 7 hours in total. All of it is now captured as AVI, as 7 1 hour long files (Digital 8 casettes, 60 mins/casette). Using Vegas Video I want to cut (split) each video into sevaral parts, 1 part per presentation. I then want to convert each presentation to a Windows Media file, to be uploaded to the web. Each presentation would be saved in 3 different WM formats (different bandwidths).

As I see now it is only possible to:
- capture the video
- cut it into pieces, using Vegas Video
- render each part as an AVI
- use batch converter to convert the AVIs to WM
So the video goes like this: tape > AVI > AVI > WM The double AVI conversion seems to degrade quality (it is not uncompressed).

What I would like:
- capture the video
- cut it into pieces, using Vegas Video
- render each section directly from the original AVI to WM, automatically.
Thus I would not have the AVI > AVI rendering...

Ulead Media Studio Pro does support batch conversion fo its own project files to AVi, WM or anything, but I like the interface and functionality of Vegas much more, that is why I would prefer to use your product.

Any possibility for such a feature in the near future?

Thanks,
Steve

I've wanted this kind of thing for a couple of projects. Here's an implimentation that I think would be pretty easy:

Mark regions in Vegas (for video projects) or Vegas Audio/Sound forge (Audio only projects) and save the rendering or wave file. Then run a script in Batch Converter with a plugin like "Split on regions and save as 'regionname' for filename".

A more advanced programmer than myself could probably write this plugin themselves. There are video and audio plugin SDK's available for free from Sonic Foundry...

Hi, :)

Yes, that is exactly the kind of functionality I am looking for, but unfortunatley I am primarily a web developer, so writing such a plugin is beyond my abilities... :(

BTW: This could be ncluded in Vegas Video too, not just batch converter, i.e. a sort of "render multiple files" menu item...

As to batch converter plugin: I was hoping such a plugin existed already.. :( Hm, maybe better luck next time. :)

Anyhow, nice to hear from you, and good luck to you from Budapest! :)
