OT: Question About ' Red ' Bouncing Around

Stringer wrote on 3/23/2015, 6:08 PM
My wife and I were recently watching an episode of some renovation project on HGTV, and every object that was bright red; clothing, accessories, you name it; had a vertical jitter to it.
Otherwise, the video looked nice and sharp and otherwise what you would expect from a well done production..

Any ideas about what was going on?

Google "blooming reds."
Is that what it looks like?

Thanks for the suggestion, but the first few pages say nothing about video processing; only stuff about various red flowers. Even adding " video " to the search was not fruitful.. Just some YouTubes about blooming flowers..

Any suggestions about other keywords to include ?

Nothing critical; I'm just curious...

Heh.
Try adding "chroma subsampling" to the search.

OT: I Googled "blooming red" "chroma subsampling" and only got three hits. . .all porn related. Go figure.

Now my face is blooming red!

When I find out what google calls it, I'll post back.

WayneM, that's very strange. I googled the same thing and got several video related hits.
Hopefully this link works for you like it did for me.

The TV you viewed this on was it a HD flat screen or a SD TV?
How old is the TV?

Thanks everyone who took time to check this out..

The TV is a 55" HD LED flat screen; about two years old..

I've never noticed the issue before we viewed this particular program.

I am trying to see if I can find a sample of the actual show, so I can share what I saw..
