Have now created a new Windows 7 installation from scratch and allowed 7 days of updates to come through. This installation is now saved as a disk image. Have now installed SF11 and can report that " SF Pro 11 Build 299 still locks up on 'Normalize' as reported earlier. **************************************************************************************** Old installation of W7 Just installed SF Pro 11. Open a .wav, select part of the file followed by Process->Normalize. I get a blue 'normalize' label on screen and SF goes into non responding mode. Make a coffee and SF is still not responding. Force a closure with task manager. 'Normalize' label still frozen to desktop but nothing strange showing in task manager Reopen SF, open file and SF now works perfectly and I do not get a second frozen normalise label on screen. Just the first one which onyy clears on a reboot. Also tried an older graphics drivers to no avail. The 'stuck' blue nornalise label is always 'on top'. *************************************************************************************** SF11.299 runs correctly on the same hardware under Windows 10 preview. Is it possible that the initial release worked on all mixes of W7 but 'broke' when it was updated to cater for W8 & W8.1 issues? Where can I download the first release from? Apologies for bumping this but I would like a few practical ideas. Message last edited on3/17/2015 12:25:03 PM bydiverG. |

I just tried to duplicate that behaviour - no luck; seems to work fine here. Win7_64 |

Fine here, SF11b299 on Win7(64) with all updates. Suggest maybe the is a problem with a runtime library that SF install has determined is already there so doesn't install. But that would have been refreshed to new with yourWin reinstall/updates, so at a bit of a loss apart from possibly interaction from a driver. This is on both your PCs ? Any change if display adaptor driver updated or rolled back ? Can you swap out or disable/swap soundcard and similarly display adaptor(s) to eliminate those drivers as source of problem ? geoff Message last edited on3/17/2015 3:15:09 PM byGeoff_Wood. |

Main pc is asus p8-z68-v-pro. I can swap the system drives between W7 & W10. Same graphics driver, likewise same realtek audio, so rules out hardware faults. Clearly something in W7 that does not agree with SF. Device manager has no yellow warnings. (Must admit W10 found all the drivers whilst loading). Before preparing a new HD/installation I tried various nVidia drivers from 290.10 through to current. As far as I can tell SF works OK if I just ignore the fault. When I loaded SF on a laptop NET.2 was loaded as part of the installation, before SF went in. SF works on the laptop. Maybe a getting NET.2 from MS might work but the laptop only shows .NET Framework 4.5.2. This same entry shows on the main pc. |

For information. Tech support have been a tad busy of late but have now responded to the incident. Seems the problem is caused by Logitech Setpoint software. Uninstalling Logitech SetPoint solved the problem. Reinstalling caused the problem to return. Tried it on both W7 system disks, worked both times. System disk with W10 Preview also had the Logitech software installed but it did not interfere with SF11. I also tried using an older version of SetPoint which was OK with SF11 running under W7. However there is always the risk of an unwanted update which would bring the problem back. I can well manage without Setpoint. being installed. |
