Try and switch off smart resample first.

As far as I remember, the Z5U only does 60i and not 60p? Or maybe 720 60p?

Agree, sounds like a resample issue.

Have you matched the project properties to the source footage? If you have, then resample will make zero difference. If you haven't then your footage may look funky, with or without resample enabled.

I don't think resample is the issue.

Also, are you seeing this when you pause the playback, or are you seeing this as you view the video at full speed? 30p is a fairly slow frame rate, and you will definitely see judder as someone waves their hand back and forth. That jerky motion is due to the low frame rate. That may not be what you are seeing, but I thought I'd mention it.

So, match the project properties to the source footage (there is a button in the project properties dialog that will do this for just by clicking on it, and then pointing to one of the video files from your shoot).

Z5U is HDV-format camcorder, and resolution is 1440x1080-60i top (or 50i for PAL version (Z5P)).

What was your shutter speed at? To high and you get strobing on movement.

Was the movement strobing or really blurred?

The resampling is that in Vegas or on the camera.
jkerry wrote on 3/13/2015, 8:18 PM
On the video it is only on a couple of spots. Not the complete video.

That is what has questioning what it might be.
johnmeyer wrote on 3/13/2015, 11:25 PM
Resampling is in Vegas. Right-click on an event, and select Properties. Default is "Smart Resample." Leave it there, unless you are changing your video frame rate from the source. Also, to repeat: match the project properties to your source media. Did you do that??

I jest looked at the project settings and it is for 29.97 rate. The camera records at 60i.

Should I be setting my project to the 59.97 rate when working with the videos?

I was wondering it that my be the reason for the fanning look with the hand movements.
