Subject:One step forward, two steps back...

Today I needed to record a live feed so I started up SF11 only to find that the whole recording sequence has changed and one of my favorite features, the remote recording mode, is gone...

What is happening to SoundForge? Why is Sony changing perfectly good workflows to alternative ones that show no real additional benefits? Are the people who are running the SoundForge dev team conscious of what they're doing?

In SF11, it feels like someone decided to change things for the pure desire to change things, and not to make things better which should be a prime directive in any software development. Imagine if these kinds of workflow changes were done to ProTools.

It's a good thing I have SF10 to fall back on. I feel sorry for anyone starting at SF11 and I'm concerned about the product's future. If anyone in charge is reading this and people in your entourage have discouraged these awkward changes, please listen to them. IMO, right now the future for SF PC doesn't look very rosy at all.

I absolutely agree and have been pursuing Sony for a refund and encourage more people to hassle them...

SF11 sits unused and I have reverted to SF9 which is far superior.

And in the meantime I continue to successfully use SF11 with few, if any, problems.

Yes those changes (remote recording and new plugin view) are steps backwards IMO too, but I feel there are two problems - people's individual installs with things (drivers maybe) that clash, and the spotty support.

If everybody, or even 'most', had the tech issues, then there would indeed be a scandal.

geoff

Here's another one for you. What about the simple crossfade dialog that used to be in the Edit menu under Paste Special->Crossfade. This, for whatever reason was just ripped out of the program for know reason. It was then implemented into the Mix/Paste feature which made it very confusing and makes absolutely no sense. The two should have been kept separate IMHO.
The other way with the dialog made it so easy especially when you could just choose a preset from the list, or create your own and be on your way. Then again, I guess the users never got an input on that one either!
