Hello, I need some help copying my vinyl to my PC using Sound Forge. Does anyone know how I can minimise background surface noise and crackle from a recording, without affecting the actual recording much?

IF you have the plug ins for Sound Forge, click on DirectX and then use Sonic Foundry Click Removal, Sonic Foundry Noise Reduction and Sonic Foundry Vinyl Restoration.

I assume you have a phonograph pre-amp, which has a special equalization curve.
The noise reduction plug-in does work great.

Clean your records first!

Can you get into more detail with the answer.

I have the plugins but never paid much attention to how to use it.
