I've run into what appears to be a graphics bug in the new build of SF11 I installed the night before last. Opened audio file, inserted a bunch of markers, fine. Switched to Event Tool, split the file in two places, selected and then deleted the "event segment" between the two splits, and all the vertical lines under the markers on the entire file suddenly disappeared. The markers are still there, the boxes with the marker numbers at the top of the screen are still there, you can click on the markers on the regions list, and the cursor goes to where the line used to be, you can play from the markers, the cursor will even snap to the invisible marker line, just the line isn't there. Tried saving the project as a project file, reopened it and the lines are still missing, looked at the underlying wave files both in the project directory and the original one which was opened for the project and the marker lines are there. I don't really want to render the project until I finish editing. How do I get the lines back? It will be very hard to edit the rest of the project with invisible marker lines. Has anyone else seen this? I've never had this happen before this update. I did have crashes when I moved markers by dragging them, the box around the marker number would disappear and then SF would crash. That hasn't happened since the update, yet... Is this a bug, and is there a work-around? |

I recall a preference setting to show/hide marker/region lines. I don't currently have access to my to computers with SF. I'll check it out later. It's possible the color got changed in the "Options> Preferences> Display" parameters Message last edited on1/16/2015 10:46:46 AM byrraud. |

I'm not on the editing computer either, but I found last night that if I added new markers after using the event editing feature, they did have lines, the old ones didn't. In fact it appears that a work around, a PITA work around, is to click on each lineless marker and then add a new marker, there are now two at the same point in the timeline, one without a line and one with a line, I could then delete the ones with no line. |

Can't reproduce that behaviour = SoundForgeProV11_Build299, Win7Pro_64 SP1 Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Rev2.0 | 650W PSU | Intel i7930 2.8GHz socket1366LGA | 6GB DDR3 RAM | GE Force nVidea GTX260 Graphics (Dual Head) |

Well, I did the identical steps this evening with the same file with the pre-event editing markers in it (I had saved a copy after putting in the markers before beginning to edit the audio) (except I'm sure I didn't put the splits the same place in the file this time) and now it seems to work correctly... The lines are still visible under the markers. Phase of the moon?? The project file I saved last night post event editing is still missing the lines. I'm going to play a little more to see if I can figure out what happened. I wonder if my graphics card or its firmware is flaky. I did have that problem with SF occasionally crashing when I dragged events. John |

Well, a little further interesting stuff. I made a copy of the project with the defective markers, and created new ones at the same locations by clicking on the marker line in the regions list and then right clicking insert. I now had two markers at those locations, one with the line under it on the timeline (the new one) and one without (the old one). Then I noticed that all the markers in the regions list that had no lines on the timeline were missing the entries for Trigger, Chan, and Note in the regions list. The dropdown box arrow was also missing from the trigger box. The ones I created by hitting insert had those entries filled in. I couldn't figure any way to update those entries in the ones that were empty and had no lines in the timeline. I then highlighted one of the "defective" markers and right clicked Replicate. It created another "defective" marker with none of those entries and no line on the timeline. I looked at the regions table on the file I had saved immediately before doing the event editing and the events all had the trigger, chan, and note columns filled in, so something that happened when I did the event editing wiped out that part of the event data as well as the display of the lines on the timeline. It didn't do it tonight when I duplicated the same steps. I don't use the trigger, chan or note items for anything, I'm not using MIDI with this setup. So I hadn't noticed they had disappeared. Next test, with a duplicate saved copy of the FRG files: Converted markers to regions, worked correctly regions now had lines in timeline and entries for trigger, etc. Undid it using undo in edit dropdown, lines, trigger entries, etc disappeared. Then, I started doing undos one at a time on the duplicate frg file, to see when the marker issue appeared. It turns out that the issue was already there when I started the event editing. Immediately before I did the event editing, but after I had entered all the events and done quite a bit of non event editing (deleting segments of the timeline, etc) I did a save, to the same filename. This is when the events in the regions list became corrupted, not in the copy I saved, but in the copy that remained open to edit, and the lines must have disappeared. When I did an "undo" on the save/render (it was a save) all of a sudden the lines reappeared. I then tried a "render" ( I couldn't do a save because I now had an FRG open) and it rendered correctly with the new wave file having the lines. As a final test I took the FRG file with the missing lines and trigger entries and did a "render" to a new filename. Guess what, the rendered .wav file had good markers and lines! The only problem with this as a fix is that I can't "undo" anything before the render. While it's good to know I can do this if it happens again, I think inserting the duplicate markers is safer, as I can back up to before the event edit if I decide I want to do the event edit again in a different location. I'd still like to know what corrupted the open file during the save operation. John |

"I recall a preference setting to show/hide marker/region lines" -- I could not find this setting anywhere.. maybe I dreampt it after a night of mind-altering substances... FWIW, the lines do change from solid to dashed when 'Snapping' is enabled. As I stated, the marker and region icon/line color can be changed in the "Preferences> Display" menu. I suspect Schmidj's issue is a result of going to new build with older files. That said, I couldn't replicate the behavior either. |
