This is so weird! I did some googling, ran across a post I SWORE sounded exactly like me, but all the posts are given random names.... some one is actively CLONING this Sony forum! I thought it was an archive, but see posts from today on it:

http://www.designstudioschool.com/vegas-pro-forum.html

really, man, what the freak? Subsequent posts from the same person are also given totally new random names and avatars.

That is not the only clone around for this forum. SONY was advised ages ago, but alas the forum is still being cloned.

No way for Sony or anyone to prevent; it has been going on in one form or another for 5+ years.
wwjd wrote on 1/1/2015, 10:03 PM
just seems weird, st00pid, and digitally wasteful :)
what would the point be? strip any phone numbers and email addresses from it for sale?

"90% of the traffic on the net is junk."

Hey! Not our cloned forum, thank you very much!

I agree w/ musicvid10 that there's no way to prevent this but it can be shut down. I was a network engineer for a bank and we were getting at least 2-3 bogus scam websites a month. Some of these sites were pretty sophisticated and looked almost exactly like our website w/ our logos and login fields and many were very crude w/ just our logo and some login fields.

The thing is, it takes a LOT of manpower to find and shut these site down especially if they are in foreign countries. We had a dedicated internet security team that had to bird-dog the shutting down of phishing websites to keep our customers from accidentally giving up information.

This bank has an ongoing campaign to inform our customers how to identify bogus websites and that they NEVER request for personal information or call over email or phone.

This particular parasite web page has been up for a long time, Sony either does not have the manpower, knowledge, skillset, does not give a $#!+ or all 4. ((;

google found my answer THERE, before it found it here. :)

Blah blah blah something about more is better, too much of a good thing is ok, etc etc.

Those sites are there to generate traffic and ad dollars. It's bizarre, but there's a whole trade in clones and para-sites (yes, parasites).

Maybe they're forums for people who pirated the software. ;-)

This is fantastic!

Right after reading the original post, I clicked on the link. Here is what I saw.

I think it's a giant step forward. I never knew the original poster's real name, or that he had such a fine set of teeth.

Now I need to clean up the spilled coffee. Thank you, China, for a much-needed laugh this morning.

I object to being called "Damned_Queen". LOL!

It is interesting that the rest of this thread past the first three posts hasn't been cloned (yet).

This site was mentioned here several times.
e.g. this thread
The reason - they intercept traffic from Google search and use Google AdSence, to make money.
wwjd wrote on 1/3/2015, 9:39 AM
I'm pretty sure scraping data and using without real permission is a cyber crime and there are lots of simple steps Sony I.T. department could do by simply blocking the domains and IP addresses of this segment, for starters.

BUT, I suspect Sony has other problems to deal with at this time. ;)
Chienworks wrote on 1/3/2015, 11:14 AM
Even if they did get it shut down, 15 more would pop up in it's place, all created and hosted by various new legal entities never heard of before and just as impossible to find.
GeeBax wrote on 1/3/2015, 3:40 PM
And what would be the point of that if they are designed to reap revenue from AdSense? If you can't find them, you can't click on the ads: therefore no revenue.
Chienworks wrote on 1/3/2015, 3:57 PM
Oh, the sites are findable. The owners aren't.
