I used an M-audio 2496 music card with a small Mackie mixer for many years. I have always used Acid Music Studio, I have 8 and 9. I had some problems with 9 so I went back to 8. I recently switched to a Focusrite Scarlett and have had a lot of problems. I can only record in 24 bit, 16 bit is noisy and unusable. So I have had to use AMS 9 exclusively. I've gotten lots of lockups with AMS and a few blue screens of death. I am running Win 7 64 bit, Core2 Quad with 6 gb ram. Any help appreciated. |

Which Scarlett is this? Focusrite's site seems to indicate it should work fine with your setup. Do you still have the 2496 installed in the system? |

I removed the 2496. Things are better because I know to check Acid's settings after a crash. Acid often goes back to 16 bit and Microsoft Sound Mapper instead of 24 bit and the Focusrite Scarlett driver. I also do better when I leave the Focusrite mixer open all the time. I know another Acid/Scarlett user who warned me about the 24 bit issue and from what I've seen and heard, he is spot on. I don't know why that should be. I have the Scarlett 6i6.
