Mercali Trial and MTS?

I'm trialling Mercali and when installing chose not to install any codecs. I want to test how well it works on some mts footage but when I drop it onto Mercali it says the media couldn't decode. Do I need to convert the footage, and if so what to? Alternatively, should I reinstall and allow the codecs? Would that make a difference. Thanks.

Reinstall and allow the codecs. I just went through the same thing. There is another thread mentioning the issue.

Thanks, that did the trick. Now to see what a difference it makes.

Yes, install the codecs. The ffmpeg libraries Mercalli uses are open source and Mercalli is a commercial product. This is why Mercalli has a separate install from the main product. The codec install is not really "optional". The codecs are private and do not install into Video for Windows, DirectShow or Media Foundation subsystems. The three primary "system" codecs.

Sure if you compile the libraries yourself and put the proper DLL in the Mercalli install directory, it work work. But who does that.
