Subject:Problem loading mp4 file

I loaded an mp4 file into Sound Forge 10. The file is 683 Mb and the time of the recording is approx 1hr 49min. On inspection, the file seems to have loaded ok until about 52 minutes, when within Sound Forge the file seems to 'stick' and the same note is repeated until about 1hr 45min, when the file starts again from the beginning.
Loading the mp4 into Movie Studio 12 Platinum, ungrouping the video and the audio, then deleting the video, followed by telling the program to open the audio in Sound Forge works ok, except that when the .wav file has loaded into Sound Forge (successfully) I receive an error message that Movie Studio has stopped working.
I asked on Sony Technical support but received replies that bore no relation to my problem.
As I say above, I have found a workaround for the problem, but would still like to know why the original problem occurred.
Can anyone help?

If you did eventually get it loaded in Sound Forge via going through Vegas, whether Vegas died or not, try saving it as a .WAV file from Sound Forge, then use this new .WAV version instead.
