Sound Forge Audio Studio 10, Windows 7:

Occasionall I would like to output to Verbatim High Capacity CD-Rs. (these are 800MB giving 90 minutes audio).

Sound Forge allows me to exceed the old 72 mins (following a warning message) onto a conventional 80min CD-R but refuses to acknowledge a 90 min disc and says my file (e.g. an 85min file) is too long to fit.

Is there any simple way around this?

Roy

Not familiar with AS. I use SF Pro w/ CD Architect.
Get the 800MB disc and try. Select overburn and/or Ignore the warning if it comes up with the larger disc.
Select Disc-at-Once, if that's an option.

Thanks for suggestions but still no luck.
I am using "Disc-at-Once" but there is no option for overburn and unlike the initial "longer than 74mins" warning there is no way to ignore the second' not enough room' warning.

I must admit, looking at the small print on these HD discs it does say that it is only compatible with Nero and Roxio burning software ,,, I was just hopeful that Sound Forge could be persuaded because it is so convenient to use once you have finished editing.

You can edit in Sound Forge, then burn in one of the others.

Personally though, i've had very little success getting these discs to play back in CD players. Some of them stop playing before the end, some lock up with an error code, some refuse to start playing them.

If you read more fine print you'll even see a warning that burning past the 80 minute point *can* damage your burner! It's not guaranteed that the burner can safely move the head that much further.

I would avoid going over 80 min because you may have very spotty levels of success playing them back on a range of players. Some ancient ones even have trouble with 80 min.
