OT: Birds and Other Stuff

amendegw wrote on 11/26/2014, 4:06 PM
Something I've been meaning to do for some time now. I've gone from Still Photography to Video now back to Still Photography.

Below is a video (Sony Vegas, of course) of some of my still photography over the past couple years. I would have loved to redo this without the watermarks, but that was more effort than I wanted to spend right now.

This is only worth watching if you click on "YouTube" and view as fullscreen, 1080p or 720p.

Enjoy!
...Jerry

You have the gift.

Thanks Jerry, Astonishingly good. I'd be delighted to have taken just one of those pics.

A fine example of what an artists' eye can behold. Amazingly, we live in the same area and yet I see none of this. Thank you.

I'll take a guess: Chesapeake Bay?
riredale wrote on 11/26/2014, 7:40 PM
Wow, I have to assume this took many years. Great stuff.

I can see posters of many of these being sold in college bookstores and lots of other places.

And birds are wonderful creatures. If there is such a thing as reincarnation I want to come back as a bird. Probably an albatross, because of their amazing long-distance flight abilities.

Thanks all for the kind comments. I'm just having some fun in retirement.

@johnmeyer, a special thanks - as a forum mentor & one of the participants in this group for whom I have the greatest respect.

@Paul Fierlinger: "Chesapeake Bay" is a very good guess. Most of the Eagles were shot at the Conowingo Dam on the Susquehanna River (the last dam before the river empties into the Bay). Some of the ducks were shot on the Choptank River, Cambridge, Maryland. Other locations include Bombay Hook NWR (Delaware), Nickerson Beach (Long Island), Forsythe NWR (near Atlantic City, NJ).

Jerry, I echo what others have said. Most of us would have been proud to capture just any one of those shots. That you have so many is truly amazing. Thanks for sharing!

What camera and lenses?

Thanks for sharing! Must have taken many hours to get the right shot. Beautiful.
amendegw wrote on 11/27/2014, 1:22 PM
@/jerry: Most of the images were shot with a Canon 1DX / 500mm F/4L IS USM + 1.4TC. However several were shot with a Canon 7D / 400mm F5.6L or 70-200mm F/2.8L (most of the Foxes). A few were shot with my Panny GH2 or GX7 & 100-300mm Lumix lens (the sunrise shots & the first Fox image).

Woooha! I can't really see how you can get much better than those - I bet you have put some hours in waiting to get some of those cracking shots. All are publishing worthy.
