Subject:Capturing Audio Cassettes

I am using Sound Forge 9e, Build 441 and have Windows 7 Pro operating system. I have a cassette player with a RCA/Mini-plug output cable that plugs into and SIIG USB Soundwave 7.1 adapter that converts the mini plug to USB. I have attempted to record the cassette with no success. It's like Sound Forge doesn't recognize any audio input. Is there an option that tell Sound Forge to look for the audio input at the USB port.? Can anyone tell me how I can accomplish this project? |

Is your USB 'soundcard' available in the SF menu: "Options> Preferences> Audio> Audio device type / Record" ? How is your link from the cassette deck to the USB connected? RCA to 1/8" Mini-plug; 1/8" to 1/8" and are the cables known to be good? .. A quick perusal the SIIG USB Soundwave specs indicate that has a 'mic' input.. most cassette decks are line level out via RCA connectors (-10dB nominal) .. but you should still be getting something, though distorted. While the SIIG USB Soundwave card may be fine for PB, another input A>D converter may be wanted. Message last edited on11/23/2014 6:09:05 PM byrraud. |
