Subject:How to access channels assigned to audio devices

In Preferences/Audio Device in SoundForge 10/11, it clearly shows my devices as channels going from Channel 1, Channel 2 (first device & default audio), Channel 3, Channel 4 (2nd device), Channel 5, Channel 6 (3rd device), and so on. Yet SoundForge only appears to record from Channel 1 & Channel 2 which is default audio.

My question is can I record from beyond channel 2 instead of having to switch my default audio every time? I have never found a way to do this and I'm curious why they are even listed that way if they are inacessible?

Do you wish to record more than two tracks at a time or just assign a specific soundcard channel to an audio track?
What make/model soundcard and driver settings?

I have multiple sound driver. My main card is the Realtek onboard card but I also have Virtual Audio cable which like I said I can see them assigned to various channels. That terminology to me implies they are accessible by selecting the desired pair via record however no such capability appears to exist. Which begs the question, why am I seeing them assigned to various channels if they are not selectable?

I only want to be able to select the pair of channels I want to record.

The number of channels you wish to record to (one to eight), is chosen in the "Record> New" window. Available channel routing is in the "Options> Preferences> Audio > Device routing" window. But you likely only have two.
The 'Classic Wave Driver' or 'MS Sound Mapper' audio device type usually work fine with most cards.
I'm sure your aware SF is not designed for 'multi-track' work. Vegas can do that nicely.
