Hi there, Sorry about posting here. I wasn't getting a response in Direct-X. I just put together a P4, 1.7 GHz Pentium CPU-based system with 256MB of RAM. Acoustic Mirror in SoundForge 4.5 under DirectX 8.01 uses over 100% of my CPU. I'm not doing anything radical with the settings (they're all default) Was this plug-in, released a couple of years ago, designed for some computer of the future, or have I got something wrong going on? (the latter explanation is obviously more likely) Any advice would be appreciated....Thanks! DameEdna |

That's strange, I run AC mirror on my P3-450 Win 98se with no worrys at all. What OS do you have? Does SF 4.5 run OK byitself? How much ram do ya have. I have 384MB, but AC. Mirror used to run fine on 128MB. How many programs are running the background? (Ctrl-Alt-Delete) The only thing I can suggest is un-install then reinstall AC mirror. Anyone else have any sugestions? |

You didn't say which motherboard you have, but I would suggest that you get the most recent chipset drivers from the manufacturer's web site. |

Thank you both for your replies... It's all brand-new (well, not the OS): Win98SE, Asus P4 mobo, 256 MB of ram, and as I mentioned, Intel P4 1.7GHz CPU. I'm very puzzled myself. I really thought this computer could handle a plug-in written before a CPU this fast was even commercially available! But, maybe that's the problem? |

Oh yeah, I run on a dedicated machine for audio, so there's no resident programs, sounds, desktop images, bla bla bla. I also don't use the "web interface", I use the classic Win95 mode for everything. |

What chipset on the motherboard? What kind of soundcard? What kind of hard drives? etc. Doug |

If this is a dedicated machine, why does it matter if you're using that much of your CPU resources? It's not hurting the CPU at all. It's really just as busy sitting there waiting for your next keypress as it is processing your sound files. I would be more concerned if the processor usage was low and wondering why it's not using more so it can finish faster. |

Simply because this plug-in *should* take up probably 30% of my CPU. Maybe less. As it is, because it uses 120% and more, I can't even use it on a single audio file in Forge. I simply think there's something wrong and I wish to fix it. Or ditch AM and use Waves TrueVerb and be done with it..... Thanks, DE |

Hi there, thanx for your reply.... Here's a link to all the specs on the mb...hopefully this will help.... http://www.sprintcomputer.com/systems/parts.php3?ViewPart=10002 The card I'm using is a Midiman D-Man 2044, and the drives are two Maxtor 40 GB 7200 rpm drives. The card and the drives shouldn't matter too much, should it? I've got some pretty processor-intensive plugins that don't even dent the CPU (by comparison, at least) Thanks! |

No, the card shouldn't matter at all. Once the data's in... it's in. The drives? Have they been recently defragged and have run scan disk? ?? But I don't think that's the problem.. I'm stumped. Some cross compatibility problem? What other audio programs or directX plugins do you have loaded? |
