Subject:problem saving cropped files

When I remove leading & trailing silences from audio samples (using crop, or cut, or delete) and then try to save the file, it ends up being saved WITH these silences. I can't seem to get rid of them.

Please advise. Thanks.

What format are you operating on and saving to?

Yes.. what format?
MP3's for instance inherently insert about 30ms at the file's head and tail. Therefore MP3's are not good for a looping.

Thanks for the head's-up re MP3 formatting. I will check to see what format I can save in, so that I can loop without leading/trailing silences. -- LH

- WAVE is recommended. AIFF on another option, especially if you deal with Mac-centric gear, Both are PCM and lossless. (no data compression).
PCM files are larger than MP3s and other lossy formats but disc space is usually not much of an issue these days.
FLAC doesn't add lead-in/out silence, but many sequencers don't support that format. Probably OK for archiving and some other uses though if disc space is an issue.
