This is really sad, I was using some of their effects on a regular basis. Will have to gradually substitute these as they might not work in future versions. Seems Vegas 13 was not supported either but still working fine... That SE version 1.
Then again there is RedGiant Universe, which now supports Vegas. Will be testing soon and see what they have to offer.
Indeed a petty , bought it when it was released ( V1 ) and upgraded to V2.3 with a yearly subscription to the FX central looks . Really nice stuff and use it in intro clips quite a lot . Maybe it was too cheap and too less revenue . Petty but I will keep on using it as long as it keeps on working.
I'm glad I stuck with the Boris Continuum Complete plug-in. Boris seems dedicate to Vegas users and Red Giant has dropped Vegas support before so I don't trust them either.
Boris just announced BBC 9 for Vegas Pro and I'm doing more Boris TV episodes for them. I'm really loving their Grunge plug-in. Check out my latest tutorials using BCC Grunge:
Boris TV, Episode 203: "The Deadliest Catch" in BCC 9 for Sony Vegas Pro
Episode 205: BCC Pan and Zoom Goes 3D in Sony Vegas Pro
Episode 210: Adding Atmosphere with BCC 9 in Sony Vegas Pro
If you have any and requests for BCC9 tutorials please let me know. Post them here or on the Creative COW. I can be contacted via this forum by clicking on my name. I'm always open for new ideas.
I'm glad i also stuck with Boris CC, In the early days Boris integration was very
problematic, but i somehow hanged on thru the years and now im glad i did. BCC 9
is now a rock solid investment and blessing. They are never gonna just get up
and drop support for Sony Vegas.
And also as John pointed out, Red Giant is another fickle line of plugins to
invest in, i truly love the new Magic Bullet Looks, as now it has features that i
have been badgering them to include for a long time. But as i said, they are a
really fickle bunch, they will just one day get up and drop support for Vegas without
even an announcement.... They have done so, so many times over the years, it
at times seems like a roller coaster ride with them, i tell you the truth. (Sigh)!
Wonder what else Genarts gonna drop...
...or more importantly, what business model are they going to adopt? They were playing with the "rental" model like Adobe and if they continue, pretty soon with paying rental for your NLE, and rental on all your plug-ins, you'll have to take out a mortgage just to afford to edit video. ;-)
in defense of genarts - they really are at the very other end of the plugin spectrum with their 'normal' range - sapphire and monsters, as are their usual clientele.
i think edge was their toe in the water moment at the shallow end of the pool, and obviously it wasn't warm enough.

I bought it for a year. About the third time I went to use it I got a message that my subscription had expired. That was it for me and my relationship with GenArts.
Edge keeps on working since it had to be bought , only the extra released additional presets ( FX central ) were a yearly subscription but not required to have and keep edge running . (luckily )
I am not a big fan of monthly subscriptions for software, I do have a couple and no real issues, but I do think it is just the way it going to be,,,like it or hate it, you want to play you have to pay.I certainly am not going to drop a software I use and hope the new one I learn is going to stay away from the monthly deal...just sayin.
I just noticed that earlier today as well and have been asking why did Creative COW take down the particleillusion forum? Using Google, I see that it thinks the links are still good, but none of them are working. Using Creative COW's own Search page pulls up nothing as well.
I get very concerned when a forum is taken down, all the valuable information with it goes Poof! I really hope GenArts had nothing to do with it. In my opinion, GenArts bought Wondertouch to gut it and take the technology for their more expensive products.
A sad day for pi3 forum users.... Just hoping that Magix keeps the SCS pages going.
