Subject:AcidPro7 + Korg Kronos

Now that AcidPro7 recognizes my workstation (Korg Kronos X), I would like to record a separate Kronos program on each MIDI track. For instance, I record a German grand piano on MIDI track 1, but I cannot seem to record anything on MIDI track 2 even though the track is armed for recording. My goal is to avoid the internal sequencer on the Kronos entirely and do all of my recording and editing in AcidPro.

I am just beginning my first foray into computer based music production after a long hiatus from music. Some guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Check that your keyboard is outputting as Omni. Or you can set your keyboard to output strictly on channel/track X.

OK, I got this far... In sequencer mode, I can individually record MIDI information in AcidPro using a different program on each track.

How about combinations? Is there a way to have each channel of a combination assigned to a corresponding MIDI track in AcidPro so that each track's data is editable after recording?

I'm not exactly sure of the question... If you are asking if you can combine midi channels on to single tracks then yes. However, it is not easy to edit the specific channels. It is much easier to edit if you keep the channels or parts separately.

Some old midi files would combine all the midi channels on to one track. The only time I ran across that I was importing them into Cakewalk. Cakewalk then had a script that would split the channels out to separate tracks. I'm not sure Acid has such a utility. Acid is severely lacking in it's midi implementation.

A type 0 MIDI file - one track, potentially many channels - is expanded into one track per channel.

A type 1 file - multitrack, typically one channel per - is imported as multiple tracks.
