Obviously I'm a new user, so the help I received will be greatly appreciated. I'm recording an audio book, and I want to do it in half-hour blocks for editing purposes. Anyway, I've found that I can only record for seven minutes and I know there's a setting to correct this. I just don't know the wording for what I need to look it up. Please advise. Thank you! |

I can't think of any such setting in normal recording mode. I've been able to record for many hours straight without any problems. What version of Sound Forge are you using? Which recording "Method" are you selecting? (Automatic: Time, can have a limit.) What are your recording parameters/settings? 44.1KHz? Stereo? 16 bit? Is your hard drive formatted for FAT32 or NTFS? In Sound Forge's recording window, how much "Time left on drive:" is listed? How much RAM do you have? Even a very minimal system recording 96KHz 24 bit stereo should still allow for 62+ minutes in a 32 bit WAV file. |

Oh! One other question: what actually happens at 7 minutes when you can't record anymore? |

When I do the playback, it runs then stops at the end of the page line, and it moves rather quickly which tells me there's a way to slow it down so I can have more record time. |

Assuming that the audio that was recorded sounds normal, the speed of which the cursor runs on the timeline is just visual . When zoomed-in, it will move very fast.. zoomed-out, slow. The bottom lower left 'Rate' (slider) should read 1.00 under normal PB conditions, but that would have nothing with the recording mode. In the record parameters window, the 'Method' should be set to "Normal", In the 'Mode' menu, anything should work... EXCEPT "Punch-in." To reiterate, DO NOT USE THE PUNCH-IN MODE. SF11's record parameters (View> Record Options) are little different from previous versions and should be set to, Method: Manual; Mode: Normal. The Normal 'Settings' window should by default, have nothing check-marked. You should fill in your system specs in your profile and what version of SF are you using as well.. |

Yes, I was recording in "Punch-in" mode. Thank you for checking! |
