What do you mean by... "turn off"? Simply do not enter any metadata.. or delete what's already there. In case your unaware, 'Metadata' is not audio content. I hope your not asking to remove vocals from a song. We (SCS forum regulars) haven't seen that request for a while. Message last edited on8/8/2014 12:50:50 PM byrraud. |

Hi. maybe disable is a better word? Here's what happened. for a lark I have been doing a little project singing ballads and standards in between my solo original CDs. I have no intention of selling any of these but I have posted some to my Sound Cloud account. one of the tracks got bounced back with a copyright warning saying that some company called the karaoke crew own the rights. someone told me that it was probably triggered by metadata and that I could turn that off or disable it in a program called audacity. I assume SoundForge can do anything. does that sound reasonable to you or am I just totally confused? WSS Message last edited on8/8/2014 1:03:41 PM byWestside Steve. |

I suppose it's possible your song tittle matched something that copyrighted? Not very familiar with SC submission protocol. I don't recall any issues whilst experimenting with it a few years ago. I would just confirm the metadata copyright attribute is blank, same with mp3 and other file formats. Otherwise when initially saving (or save as), un-check the 'Save metadata with file' box in the save window. Message last edited on8/8/2014 1:49:18 PM byrraud. |

thank you sir. I will try that. PS I had also tried changing the song's title and still it got bounced immediately making me (actually my buddy) suspect metadata. WSS Message last edited on8/8/2014 2:39:21 PM byWestside Steve. |

If these are MP3 files then a quicker thing to try is to right-mouse-button click on the file in Windows explorer, choose properties, and then click the Summary tab. You'll see all the meta data including ID3 tags displayed. You can edit/delete any or all of them. The nice thing about this is it does it without re-rendering the MP3 file, so you won't lose any quality. I'm not sure if this works for WAV, since i don't think i have a single WAV file that i haven't created myself and none of them have any metadata in them at all. |

I don't think changing the metadata (only) in a Wave file re-renders the file, as the re-save is instantaneous. At least in SF. I use an older version of Winamp (2.8) to play and change MP3 metadata.. Winamp opens extremely fast. Opening/changing the metadata is very quick & easy as well.. double-click (or right-click) the time/title display. |

Thank you for the information gentlemen. Don't know if that's where my problem lies but I will certainly roll the dice. WSS |
