after using 10 lite i think i might give this a whirl - more curiosity about the editing side rather than anything else...
after all, having tried all the rest i'm still here with vegas, but i'm adventurous ;-)
first impression - absolutely gorgeous ui. and i mean gorgeous...
second impression - definitely need to dl the manual. i managed 10 ok for cc'ing after a few false starts, but need to do the same again for the edit module - not quite as logical as i'd like.
love it's use of two monitors - nice touch.
from a cursory, non proficient playaround, i don't think vegas has anything to worry about, other than the beautiful interface(s)....
Yes it is very pretty, but I cannot figure out how to get media into it, I have never used the software before, will have to do some YouTube research and such, but you are right I will be sticking with Vegas for my editing workhorse.
It is fun to poke around other software never know what you might learn.
Resolve isn't software that you can get into without reading the manual. I wouldn't call the UI at all intuitive. You must set up your parameters at the start and before you can enter media you have to tell it the drives and directories where you have the media. Once you get through those initial road blocks it is plain sailing.
And one thing this software is surprising, it has NLE ability..., and the Lite version seems powerful enough!
Downloaded yesterday, but, as Serena said above, I can't do anything blindly....
Vegas developers, something you need to watch for too ! (or make it able to cooperate together with Vegas!)
FYI,
It does 'work with Vegas' in that you can send EDLs back and forth to it using the Final cut XML import/export (although there have been some quirks).
I edit in Vegas and CC in Resolve now for the most part.
I would think you would still want to at least render a final audio track in Vegas if the goal was to do a final render out of resolve. I don't believe Resolve has all the audio tools available to it like Vegas.
So far it recognizes all the different vid and audio tracks, keeps cuts, fades and reverse, but you have to redo any cropping. I've been on 10 for a while but I think I'll install 11 pretty soon.
