Subject:I can't record vocals with acid music studio 9

I'am on the windows 8 platform and I can't record any audio. I don't know if I have to change something in the control panel and if I do than what is it? I have an audio interface and everything is hooked up, I can even hear myself when everything is on, I can hear the music aswell. I arm to record and nothing. I insert audio track and nothing everytime I look at the computer. I have been trying for about a week now and still have not made any progress. Recording audio shouldn't be this hard. The mic never picks it up.

Please fill out your system specs in your user profile.

What type of audio hardware device are you using? Manufacture, model, etc.

Which driver model - Mapper, Wave Classic, ASIO - are you using in ACID?

How are you connecting your input source (mic? Instrument?) to your device?

It isn't that hard.

If "the mic never picks it up", how are you hearing yourself ?

Presumably you mean that you can hear yourself on the computer audio but when an audio track is inserted in Acid and then armed the track level meter doesn't show a signal ?

Is Acid listening to the same audio device (Options|Preferences|Audio) ?

More info needed....

when I have my headphones turned on and I stand in-front of the mic to do a check I can hear myself and or the music I'm trying to record on, Idk what is picking it up but I can hear myself clearly. I insert audio track I arm to record and the mic still doesn't pick up.

How would I access those things for windows 8?

Oh and I forgot to add that I believe that my sound card is Windows classic wave driver, or at-least thats what I have selected. The level meter never shows up. Also when I go to the control panel my microphone has no levels instead of it being green and going up and down it stays grey.

Please open the Preferences in ACID. Select the Audio Device tab.

If you have selected Wave Classic Wave Driver under "Audio device type:"

What does the "Default playback device:" selection say? What options are available, when you drop down the selection?

Add a new Audio track to the project.

On the new track, there is a input source selector. What device does it say is selected?

Do you have an audio device that you installed or are you using the audio that is built into your computer? If so, who manufactures it?

Peter
