I imported files direct from my camcorder in 1440 x 1080. When it previews, it indicates resolution 920x684 and the video doesn't match the screen. How can I get the two to be compatible? Thanks.
When you say preview indicates 920x684... are you looking at the line below the preview window where it says "Project:" or "Preview:"? If you are looking at the Preview numbers it means that your preview is at that resolution which depends on what you have selected in the preview menu; there is Draft, Preview, Good and Best and each has its own submenu. To match the preview to match the screen, right click in the preview window and select "Simulate Device Aspect Ratio" and "Scale Video to Fit Preview Window". Also make sure that your project is set 1440x1080... I assume you are editing HDV?
Thanks. I didn't have my project set to 1440x1080. Now I have to go back and change my animations to the same. I just don't use Vegas Pro that much, so your timely help is appreciated.
I re-rendered the animation to 1440x1080 and imported it into Vegas Pro. Both the Project and Preview resolution agree to 1440x1080. The video is at the right aspect ration, but the animation, even though it's rendered at the same resolution, is stretched horizontally. This occurs with both the Device Aspect ratio simulated and with the Scale Video to Fit. Then when I render the project, just the opposite: the video part is compressed horizontally and the animation 's aspect ration is ok. I'm missing something basic. Your help would be appreciated.
Probably simpler to set your project properties to 1920x1080 square (1.0) pixels. This will still match your source video perfectly. Do all the work at 1920x1080 from there on out.
