I know you can use Audacity to capture sound off a web page, I don't really want o load another Audio Program .... is therer a way to do this in SF ? I have SF Studio 10 Help seemed to say just press record button ... window pops up with start button ... played web page and pressed start but it does not record any sound. |

Search this forum, It's been discussed at length. Regardless of your audio software, SF, Audition, ect, It really depends on your sound card and it's available settings. Some can, some can't. if your sound card/PC can't route the card's audio output directly, there are third-party options available that can. It really has little to do with SF itself. Basically, try looking in your sound card's 'Recording' parameter settings for 'What you hear', 'Stereo mix' or other similar option, different manufacturers use different terminology Message last edited on7/16/2014 2:29:30 PM byrraud. |

"It really depends on your sound card and it's available settings." Add to that it also depends on your computer model and OS, especially laptops with onboard audio. There are utilities, named Virtual Audio Cable and All Sound Recorder that will allow you to record. Sometimes, older audio drivers will allow direct recording, while the stock ones will not. I still remember the very first day i got a SonicFoundry program, Sound Forge 4.5XP (wow, over 15 years ago). I was so excited to start recording and editing digitally! But alas, i couldn't find any way in Sound Forge to record from the computer's line inputs, it seemed to only want to record from the very cheap, scummy, useless microphone. I was lost for a couple of weeks, getting no help from the manual at all, and finally deciding that the dumb program just couldn't hack it. Then one day i accidentally happened to notice that the sound card's control panel had an option to switch from 'Playback' to 'Recording', and there it was! The mic was selected but the line input was not. 4 clicks in 6 seconds and i was in business. It was nothing to do with Sound Forge at all. I kinda wish that either 1) Sound Forge and the manual did a better job pointing users in that direction, or even better yet, 2) Sound Forge (And Vegas/Acid/etc.) could open that control for us and allow us to manipulate the settings and levels right from within. |

I loved SF XP 4.5! Still have my CD, which came bundled with a Sound Blaster card, iirc. |

I use All Sound Recorder Vista. (Don't let the word Vista fool you. I have Wins 7 Pro and it works.) Unfortunately this is an added step, but it works for very little money. I take the saved output and edit it in Sound Forge Pro. http://www.mp3do.com/soundrecorder.html Message last edited on7/26/2014 1:38:11 PM byLarry Clifford. |
