Just recieved an email from SCS that they are giving 50% discount for AP7 upgrade. When I came to the page I saw the new cover. Below on the right corner you can still see the previous cover

The next thing I went to look for was if there was an update relase for 64 bit memory support. But I don't see it yet.

Something new is happening to Acid Pro.

I have just bought a second copy of Acid Pro 7 for my second computer system. Also to support Sony Creative Software Team.

SCS team I hope you will bring out an update soon so that the software will support 64 bit memory. That is very important for many users including me.

Best regards,

The price has certainly come down. When i got ACID Pro 5/6/7 the price was almost the same as for Vegas Pro.

I do wonder though, people who have ACID Studio 10 and then upgrade to Pro 7, will they wonder where all their favorite new features went?

Chienworks,

I am not familiar with the Studio version, which features are you referring to?
I thought that the studio version has intentionally limited features compared to the Pro version.

I'm not so sure this indicates something new is happening with Acid Pro. The 50% discount to upgrade from Studio to Pro also goes for Vegas and Sound Forge. It's simply a new marketing pitch.

In a way, Sony is a victim of its own success. Acid Studio 10 is not that far off from Pro 7. I do a fair amount of video production for a major American client, producing their YouTube videos to professional HD but not cinema quality, with no need for surround sound, and find Movie Studio to meet all my needs. I suspect lots of mid-range pros like me are finding Sony's Studio products have evolved to such a high level that it's almost not worth it to buy the Pro versions. Hence, this new promotion, to lure people like me.

No, I don't believe anything new is happening to Acid Pro except a new box.

feign,

Music studio is not 64 bit either.
When trying out music studio I remember getting many alerts stating that specific function is only available in 'Pro' version.
I already had Pro at the moment and was used to using many of the functions Pro has.
Many of them not even mentioned in the comparison chart.

If Music studio was 64 bit then I would give it a try again.
At this moment it is not any better than Acid Pro for me.

I wonder why SCS is not giving the Studio versions a 64 bit base either.
Maybe the whole Acid line Studio & Pro is gonna get a new base.

VMP, i dunno, i haven't looked at the studio versions since ACID 2.

However, ACID 7 Studio came out the same time as ACID 7 Pro. There have been three Studio version upgrades since then. One would presume that something new has been added over those three upgrades, and it could possibly be features that don't exist in the 5-year-old 7 Pro.

It just struck me as odd that an upgrade path from the current Studio version would land you in a 5 year old program instead of a current one. Imagine if the only "Pro" upgrade from Vegas Movie Studio 13 was Vegas Pro 8. Would that really be an upgrade?

That's a good point Chienworks, indeed.

Didn't think of the release dat difference between the two programs.
