How many of you have both ACID and VEGAS AUDIO? Which one do you find yourself using more? I don't have a multitrack card in the computer right now so in my setup ACID is on equal grounds with VEGAS. In VEGAS can you string the loops together as easy as you can in ACID? I know they are totally to different products. I guess I can't see a reason to start a song in ACID and then import it into VEGAS. Especially if you are using ACID 3.0. I guess I will start to use VEGAS more once I get a breakout box to do multitrack recording. If I start a song in ACID I usually finish it in ACID.

I use both applications. I use Vegas more because I am working with "live" situations. You can do looping in Vegas, but it's much easier in Acid. I have built songs in Acid, then brought them to Vegas to add multitrack "live" elements.

While they "look" the same, they're completely different. ACID is optimized for loops/looping, not playing back full tracks of audio. Vegas is optimized for recording/playing back 24+tracks of audio. You really need both for the seperate jobs they do.

I use to work solely with SoundForge.

Then I got into Acid (2.0). Now I'm hooked and up to Acid 3.0.

Got my hands on the LE version Vegas Audio recently. Here is my initial take.

Although Vegas is the multitrack application - I have YET to see anything that Vegas can do that I can't do in Acid. Maybe that is because I have gotten so use to Acid...but it's true.

I can play multiple full tracks (events) in Acid. I can full duplex record/play, I can loop, cross fade, assign individual busses, etc. Again, it may just be me - but I'm diggin Acid and can't see why I would want to spend $400 for Vegas Audio (yet).

If you ever need to record more than two tracks of audio at a time, and more than 8 multitracked, or a software package that is not "loop" oriented, you may need Vegas. It is overkill for just one person though, unless you are a drummer and want more than two microphones on your kit. etc.
