Hey everybody,

Is anyone having a time installing the new build of Batch Converter that you get free with Sound Forge 5? (A fresh install, not an update install.)

I noticed the EXE I downloaded (after giving my SF serial) is different from the "demo version," (BatchConverter50b_ps.exe vs. BatchConverter50b_bld156.exe) yet it asks me for a serial. What gives?

I had no trouble at all. Did you try entering your Sound Forge 5 serial number?

Yeah, actually I did. Hmmm...weird. I'll try again when I have the gumption. I must've missed something...

Painful as this suggestion may be, it's possible your download got corrupted. You might want to try downloading again. I only had to enter my serial number to start the download. The installation, registration, and activation went through on my system without my having to enter anything at all. I just clicked OK and off it went.

For comparison, the file i downloaded is BatchConverter50b_ps.exe, it is build 156, and it's 17,969Kb or 18,399,791 bytes.

Sure hope you're not on a 28.8 modem ;-)

OK, get this: It works now.

Here's the strange part: I've tried to install Batch Converter from a certain folder several times before. (I deleted and downloaded BC several times into the same folder.) So I tried to download it from a different location and install it from there. Voilà. Hmm...oh well.

Nope, I'm not on a 28.8 connection. Cable modem. (Woot!) :)

Kewl. Glad it worked. Windows is a total mystery that i'll never understand (LOL) Kind of sad considering that what i do for a living these days is support corporate computer users and write & install Windows-based software.

Cable modem coming here on Tuesday! I'm really looking forward to it. I downloaded the ACID Get Media files for February last night on my 56K modem and it took 14 hours.

I downloaded the new Get Media material (Bill Laswell, Twine and Ma Je Le' loops) in just a few minutes (about 6-7 minutes total). Average about 170KB/sec.

I went over a friends' place to set up their new computer today. They have 56K just like you. I felt like I was in Molassesland. I must be way too spoiled to go back. :)
