Hi, I've recently started delving into batch processing in Sound Forge after not doing much of that for a few years. I have a couple issues that have come up. 1.) There seems to be a limit to how many files I can process in a batch, beyond which the application will just hang. I haven't really found what that limit is or what factors influence it, but I recently needed to process a bunch of .WAV files with an iLok authorized EQ plug in (Waves). I was initially running into this with Sound Forge 10c, which failed after about 17,000 of about 33,000 files. Then I tried about 5,000 and it failed. Ironically, the 10c release notes say: "* Fixed a bug that could cause Sound Forge to hang or crash when using the Batch Converter script on a large number of files." I switched to 11 and it still failed. 3,000 is as high as I've gone so far without the hang happening. 2.) Saving QuickTime .MOV files (h264 if it matters) as RMS-normalized and Sony EQ'd .WAVs. When processing around 20 files, the resulting .WAVs will often have a variety of errors, such as a segment of what was the beginning of the recording appearing at the end of the file instead of what's supposed to be there, or the end of the file not being normalized even though the rest of it was. Batch processing is a big part of my job and would love to see if these can get fixed in an upcoming release. I'm a hardcore Sound Forge 4.5 Batch Processor vet so I know it can be done! |
