Quicktime installation problems.

Trying to solve strange problem handling .MOV files.

Admin user X, cannot put a .mov file on the timeline - says Quicktime not properly installed.

Non-admin user Y, can put a .mov file on the timeline - no problem.

Latest Quicktime 7.7.5, Followed Apple instructions to uninstall everything, removed temp files, re-installed. No changes.

Please help.

Not a clue what system OS (is it your Win7/64?) etc you have, but anytime you get a "admin" notification message means that you have some issues with the User Account control. Usually if you can disable User Account control for a non-networked build of PC - the better off you are. You may not have any option now on that score, just an FYI.

On the other hand an underlying support system such as Quicktime is depending on the user account control setting for it to be consistent with all other app hooks that it supports including VegasPro as well as many others on your platform. So your problem may well be you are not in the same account that VegasPro was installed in originally.

I had this problem also. The following link helped me clear it up for the most part.

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice.

Problem was resolved by complete uninstall and re-install of all Sony products. Cleaning the registry, the AppData Folders and the Program Files folders.

We are back in business.
