How do I bring my composition of (orchestral) loops to a neat conclusion in Acid Studio 9? Surely a fadeout is a cop-out--and would become funny after the 2nd or 3rd time? A pad in the right key seems to be the only option, but that's very limited. I'll be grateful to anyone who can help. |

You could place an one-hit at the end, or fade out, or repeat the pattern three times just to end it. To name a few. VMP |

You asked this a while ago but my technique is to fade out the tracks one by one going out leaving what I consider to be the fundamental essence of the track as the last to fade out. Most of the time it'll be the secondary percussion but I have tracks where the item was an insect sample and another time it was one of the repeating vocal phrases I had sampled. Fades aren't that bad if you do them in a non-copout way. Like VMP said a repeating phrase isn't bad and you can also fade that out. Sometimes I "bring it back" after a second or two of silents either fade in or loud depending on the sound. Lots of options.... |

I would like to offer the following suggestions: 1. Ritard. Free yourself from the snapping grid in ACID and start spacing things out a little bit in the last couple of bars to simulate the orchestra slowing down for emotional impact. 2. Use the ability to draw volume envelopes to create a swell on that final orchestral pad or to simulate the dynamics of a "real orchestra" |
