WOT: Apple AirPrint

Hello all:

I am new to iPad and iPhone. I understand you can print from these devices using AirPrint, however my printer is not recognized as an AirPrint printer.

I have an Epson Artisan 810. It is on my wireless network and I can print to it wirelessly from our various Windows PCs. Apple support says the Epson Artisan 730 and 837 (virtually the same as my 810) are AirPrint capable . . . so by virtue of my 810 being in that family range, I wonder if I can enable mine to AirPrint. The specs on the Epson website are silent on AirPrint for all three models.

Any thoughts, Apple Gurus? Old PC dog, new Apple tricks.

Regards,

Kimberly

Edit: Apparently the 810 is NOT AirPrint capable, but there might be a workaround -- Epson iPrint. It is supposed to behave similarly to AirPrint.

Yea, I was going to suggest that you look for an Epson app. My HP printer is not AirPort enabled but HP created an App that will find it's printers on the network and print to them from my iPad.

The Epson iPrint works pretty well. The biggest obstacle is mental, i.e., you must "open" a document in Epson iPrint and then you can print.

On a semi-related note, there is a paid app called PDF Converter that does a good job making PDFs on an iDevice.
